Omni-Term B2B webshop

Omni-Term, based in Izegem (Belgium), has been a wholesaler in heating, solar and ventilation since 1970, with several branches and professional installers as its customers. For those installers I build and maintain the B2B webshop pro.omniterm.be: the digital extension of the trade counter, open around the clock.

The challenge

Installers often order in the evening or from the construction site. They want to know immediately whether an item is in stock at their branch and when they can pick it up or have it delivered. The webshop therefore has to work seamlessly with Omni-Term’s ERP system: customer-specific prices, stock per branch, open orders and invoices must always be correct.

The solution

A modern single-page application in Angular, powered by a .NET Web API:

  • Powerful search: the complete product catalogue searchable through Elasticsearch, with filters on brand and ETIM product features
  • Ordering tailored to installers: shopping basket, shopping lists, construction sites, quotes and speed orders for urgent needs
  • Delivery or pick-up: automatic calculation of the earliest possible delivery or pick-up date based on stock, branch and route planning
  • Everything in one portal: order history, deliveries, invoices, downloads and promotions
  • Reliable communication: confirmation e-mails and pick-up slips that render correctly in every mail client, including classic Outlook

Technology

  • Frontend: Angular 21 with Angular Material and Tailwind CSS, standalone components, an OpenAPI-generated API client and automated unit and end-to-end tests
  • Backend: .NET 10 Web API with Entity Framework Core and SQL Server, Elasticsearch for search, RabbitMQ for asynchronous processing, Redis caching and PDF generation for order documents
  • DevOps: Docker containers, CI/CD with GitHub Actions to staging and production environments, structured logging with Serilog and monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana

Result

A webshop used daily by installers that keeps growing step by step. Every release comes with readable release notes for the staff at the trade counter. The result of a partnership of more than ten years: from the first digital product catalogue to today’s platform.
